Mixed Youth Choir "Iuventus Cantata", established in 1985. is a part of the Choral Society of Sombor, founded in 1870. Under the direction of its founder and conductor, Mr. Silvester Hajnal, a choir gained a reputation at home and abroad winning many domestic and international choir competitions in a short period of time. After a large number of gold medal and diploma from the competition in the country, the choir moves on to the international competing scene in 1997. With the 6th International Choral Festival in Budapest, the choir returned crowned with gold, and the same year in Karditsa (Greece)it has won the second prize. In November 1998. It has won the first prize and gold medal at the 6th International Festival of Sacred Music in Rome (Italy). At the first Choir Olympics in Linz (Austria) MOH "Iuventus cantat" won a silver medal making world history becoming the best choir ever to come out from Yugoslavia. In April of 2001. the choir takes part on the 8th International Festival of Choirs in Budapest in three categories and in all three categories has won gold medals. That same year, in July the choir went to Langollen (Wels, UK) to the 55th International Festival of Music, where it has won the first prize and was voted as the best mixed choir in the world. The sudden death of the conductor, mr. Silvester Hajnal didn’t prevent the choir to continue its work, so in 2002. The MOH "Iuventus cantat", under the leadership of Alexander S. Vujic, won the gold medal at the Second Choir Olympics in Busan (South Korea). As part of the Choral Society of Sombor operates the Children’s Choir "Voja Vojislav Ilić," which is conducted by Marija Hajnal, the daughter of late Silvester Hajnal.
